When Stress Turns Into Anxiety

Freedom in Christ Counseling

If stress and overthinking are part of your everyday concerns, you can ask about counseling without deciding on a diagnosis yourself. Josh works on anxiety, stress, and difficulty slowing down. The title’s question can begin with what you notice in your life, rather than a rule that stress always turns into an anxiety condition.

01

Name the Worry You Keep Returning To

Consider the concern you are repeatedly thinking about: a changing role, family responsibility, or pressure in leadership. Describe it in concrete terms when you speak with Josh. Counseling can examine thoughts and responses connected to worry. This guide is not a diagnostic checklist and does not establish whether a particular experience means you have an anxiety disorder.

02

Connected Concerns Can Be Discussed Together

Anxiety may be part of the conversation alongside anger, a life transition, or ministry burnout. You do not need to separate every concern before beginning. Josh sees Christian men age 18 and up and couples. Men serving as pastors or ministry leaders can bring compassion fatigue and leadership pressure as well as the overthinking they want to address.

03

Clinical Counseling That Takes Faith Seriously

An Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with supervision designation, Josh uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling. His biblical worldview informs the clinical work. CBT can examine thinking and responses; other methods consider painful memories and recurring emotional patterns. Practical tools, honest discussion, and personal responsibility remain connected to the specific concern rather than a promise of feeling calm.

How Josh Works

04

Bring One Current Example to a Session

A 55-minute first appointment includes what brought you in, your goals, and faith fit. Weekly or every-other-week sessions include practical tools between meetings. Men can choose Dayton appointments or secure video while located in Ohio. Couples meet in person only. You can begin with a current worry and discuss how it relates to your daily responsibilities.

05

Discuss Coverage Before Your First Appointment

Fees and coverage questions are addressed during the free 15-minute consultation. Josh accepts Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage depends on your plan and benefits are checked together before the first session. Private pay is also offered, with superbills available on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement. That possibility does not guarantee payment from insurance.
