Christian Counseling and Our Approach

Honesty about your limits belongs in counseling, along with the clinical tools to address what is happening.

Starting From Weakness

You do not have to prove you are strong enough.

Our Need for Christ

We often convince ourselves that we should be strong enough to handle life's struggles on our own, and admitting we need help can feel like failure. Biblical counseling begins with recognizing that we were never meant to walk through life's challenges in our own strength. True healing and lasting change begin when we acknowledge our weaknesses, recognize our need for Christ, and invite Him into the areas of our lives that our own efforts have failed to change.

Honesty and Responsibility

Admitting a limit does not remove your responsibility for your choices. It gives us a concrete place to begin: the argument, habit, or fear you have been trying to keep under control.

Sound Clinical Counseling

Methods With a Clinical Foundation

I am Josh Reed, LPCC-S, a licensed Ohio counselor since 2014. I use these evidence-based methods in my counseling work.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT examines how your thoughts affect your emotions and actions. We can test a familiar belief against the facts and practice a different response to a difficult situation.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a method I use for trauma and painful memories. It involves structured attention to a memory alongside guided back-and-forth stimulation, such as eye movements, to work on the distress connected to it.

Psychodynamic Counseling

Psychodynamic counseling explores emotional patterns and how past experiences may influence present relationships. We look at reactions that recur so you can better understand what is shaping them.

Faith and Method Together

Grace makes room for honesty. Responsibility gives the work direction.

Clinical methods can sit in alignment with scripture. Prayer and scripture enter the session as you want them included, while we keep working on the practical concern that brought you in.

What This Is Not

A counseling appointment is not a sermon. We talk about your emotional, relational, behavioral, or spiritual concerns, with time for questions about how faith fits into that work.

Counseling is not a substitute for medical care. I do not give medication advice; our sessions focus on licensed clinical counseling and the concerns within that care.

From Conversation to Practice

Men age 18 and up and couples bring concerns such as anxiety, compulsive behavior, or relationship conflict. A 55-minute session connects those concerns with goals and practical tools for the days between appointments. We meet weekly or every other week.

The free 15-minute consultation covers fees and insurance questions. Accepted coverage depends on your plan, with benefits checked together before the first session; private pay is also available.

Questions Before You Begin

Does clinical counseling replace the faith conversation?

No. The work considers your Christian beliefs alongside emotional and behavioral patterns. You can ask how a method relates to the specific concern you bring.
