Grief and Loss

A loss can change your relationships, your daily responsibilities, and the questions you bring to God.

Who It Is For

Room for the Loss You Carry

Josh counsels Christian men age 18 and up individually and couples who are grieving together. The loss may be a loved one’s death or the end of something that gave life direction. You can talk about what is missing without needing to make the experience sound more hopeful than it feels.

Loss Has More Than One Form

A Loved One’s Death

Grief can enter ordinary moments: a conversation you cannot have, a family responsibility that has changed, or a familiar occasion. We focus on how the loss is affecting your life now.

Marriage, Career, or Calling

The loss of a marriage, a career, or a sense of calling can raise questions about identity and purpose. Those concerns deserve attention even when nobody has died.

Health and Faith Questions

Changes in health can involve grief about the life you expected. Anger, guilt, and questions about faith can be spoken about in counseling rather than set aside.

Clinical Care

Care for the person, not a timetable.

Josh Reed, LPCC-S, brings licensed clinical counseling and a biblical worldview to grief work. He uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling to consider thoughts, painful memories, and emotional patterns. We look at your particular loss and its effects, without promising how quickly the pain will change.

Faith and Practical Work

You can speak honestly about what is gone.

Faith questions may belong beside sadness, anger, or uncertainty. Prayer and scripture can be included at your preference. The work makes room for practical concerns too, including changed family roles and the conversations that have become difficult since the loss.

What Sessions Look Like

Appointments provide 55 minutes, weekly or every other week. Men may meet in person in Dayton or by telehealth while located in Ohio. Couples grieving together attend in person only. The first session addresses your loss, your concerns, and what you want help working on.

Insurance and the First Conversation

Ask about fees and coverage during the free 15-minute consultation. Accepted insurance is plan-dependent, with benefits checked together before counseling begins. Private pay and superbills on request are available for those considering possible out-of-network reimbursement.
