Counseling for Depression and Lack of Purpose
Discouragement can make even familiar responsibilities feel heavy. We can start with what has become difficult to do.
When Motivation Fades
You are getting through the day, but without direction.
Pulling away from people, losing interest in routines, or feeling stuck may leave you wondering what happened to your sense of purpose. Counseling makes room to discuss those changes without asking you to pretend to feel hopeful.
Identity struggles can add another weight: measuring your worth by productivity, a job title, or how well you provide for others. We can examine the beliefs underneath the discouragement.
If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 now.

Beliefs Beneath the Discouragement
What are you telling yourself about your life?
A thought such as “nothing I do matters” can influence whether you reach out or attempt something that used to matter to you. CBT can help us consider that belief and its effect on your choices.
Psychodynamic counseling can also help us explore emotional patterns connected to how you understand yourself. I am Josh Reed, LPCC-S, and I bring licensed clinical care and a Christian perspective to this work.
A Concrete Beginning
Living with purpose again starts small.
A brief conversation with someone you trust or returning to one manageable routine may be a more useful starting point than trying to change everything at once.
We choose steps that fit the concerns you bring and review what happened when you tried them. Motivation does not have to be complete before a small action is possible.
People, Identity, and Calling
Isolation can narrow your days until work and withdrawal become the whole pattern. We can discuss who you want to reconnect with and what makes reaching out difficult.
Questions about your identity in Christ and your calling can be considered alongside discouragement. Purpose may involve family, faith, or responsibilities that have begun to feel disconnected from what you value.
