Parenting Stress

Work pressure, family responsibilities, and disagreements about parenting can leave very little room to respond calmly.

Who It Is For

Care for Fathers and Couples

Josh works with fathers individually and couples together, not with children directly. A father may feel pulled between work demands and family roles, while spouses may disagree about parenting. Christian men age 18 and up and couples can bring those concerns into counseling without pretending the pressure is easy to carry.

The Pressures at Home

Work and Family Together

A difficult workday can affect the way you respond at home. We examine the stress, the expectations you carry, and the reactions that are adding to family strain.

Conflict Between Spouses

Disagreements about parenting may also involve feeling unheard, shared responsibility, or recurring communication problems. Couples work looks at how the conversation unfolds and what each partner hears.

Anger and Emotional Regulation

Irritability and frustration can become part of parenting pressure. Counseling can focus on the thoughts behind a reaction, taking responsibility for its effect, and practicing a different response.

Clinical Care

Address the pattern between the adults.

Josh Reed, LPCC-S, uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling within a biblical worldview. CBT can help examine a thought that intensifies frustration; psychodynamic work explores recurring emotional patterns. His work with fathers and couples centers on adult emotional and relational concerns, rather than providing direct counseling to children.

Faith and Practical Work

Responsibility includes looking at your own response.

An honest conversation can include the pressure you carry and the effect of your words at home. Faith and clinical tools can inform work on emotional regulation, communication, and family roles. We work toward practical responses without promising an end to parenting disagreements.

What Sessions Look Like

Individual men’s appointments are 55 minutes, weekly or every other week, in Dayton or by telehealth while in Ohio. Couples attend together in person only. The first session addresses your concerns and goals, including whether you want to work individually or on the relationship together.

Insurance and the First Conversation

Ask about fees and coverage in the free 15-minute consultation. Josh accepts insurance, with plan-dependent benefits checked together before the first session. Private pay remains available, and superbills can be requested for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
