The counselor behind the practice

About Josh Reed, LPCC-S

Why Freedom in Christ

Professional counseling. Your faith taken seriously.

While working in counseling agencies, I kept meeting Christian men and women who wanted their faith to inform their counseling. Too often, the guidance they received conflicted with the beliefs they held.

I built Freedom in Christ Counseling so clients could receive professional care without setting their Christian faith aside. Here, a distinctly biblical worldview and sound clinical counseling belong in the same conversation.

I’m also active in Christian ministry and community leadership. I understand the pressures that husbands, fathers, and ministry leaders carry, including the pressure to keep everything together for the people who depend on you.

My approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that lasting growth involves both clinical insight and the truth of God’s Word. I strive to provide a compassionate, professional setting where you can address life’s challenges, strengthen your faith, and pursue meaningful change. It would be a privilege to support you in that process.

Our work together

How I Work

Our sessions center on practical tools, honest conversations, personal responsibility, and the hope and freedom found in Christ.

We work toward moving beyond simply managing symptoms. Using clinical methods like CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling, we can look at the patterns and beliefs beneath the reactions, choices, and relationships you want to understand.

Who I work with

Christian Men and Couples

I work with Christian men age 18 and up who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected and are ready to honestly confront their emotional, relational, behavioral, or spiritual struggles.

I also work with couples dealing with communication breakdowns, conflict, emotional disconnection, or broken trust. Couples counseling happens in person at the Dayton office.

The hope behind the name

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
