Parenting Stress and Your Marriage

Freedom in Christ Counseling

Parenting stress can include pressure on a father and conflict between spouses about parenting. Josh works with fathers and couples, not children directly. Counseling here can address the adult concerns involved in carrying work and family responsibilities together, without presenting an assessment of a child or promising a particular change in family life.

01

Begin With the Pressure on the Adults

You can describe the responsibilities that feel difficult to carry or a disagreement with your spouse about parenting. Keep the starting point on what you want to address as a father or couple. The practice provides counseling for Christian men age 18 and up and couples, rather than direct counseling for children or a child-focused service.

02

Name the Marriage Concern Alongside Parenting

If parenting conversations become recurring arguments or leave you feeling disconnected, those relationship concerns belong in couples work. You do not need to decide that one spouse has the correct approach before speaking with Josh. Individual men may also bring anger, anxiety, or identity questions connected to their own reactions and sense of responsibility as fathers.

03

Clinical Care With Christian Grounding

Josh holds an Ohio LPCC-S license with supervision designation and uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling within a biblical worldview. Thoughts and responses, painful memories, and recurring emotional or relationship patterns may be considered. Personal responsibility, grace, and practical tools keep the work connected to specific concerns rather than an idealized performance of fatherhood or marriage.

Choose Individual or Couples Appointments

Men’s sessions can take place at the Dayton office or by secure video while the man is located in Ohio. Couples meet in person only in Dayton. Both formats use 55-minute sessions, weekly or every other week. The first conversation includes what brought you in, goals, and faith fit, and practical tools are part of the work between appointments.

Coverage Questions Are Part of Starting

The free 15-minute consultation is available for questions about your concerns, fees, and insurance coverage. Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare are accepted. Benefits are checked with you before the first session because coverage depends on your plan. Private pay is another option. Superbills are available on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement, which is not guaranteed.
