Using Insurance for Counseling: What to Ask Your Plan
Freedom in Christ Counseling
Insurance questions belong before your first counseling session, not only after you receive information about payment. Freedom in Christ Counseling accepts five named plans, and coverage depends on your particular plan. Josh checks benefits with you before the first session. The free 15-minute consultation is where questions about fees and coverage can be discussed.
01
Identify the Plan You Want to Ask About
Accepted insurance includes Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. A plan name alone does not establish what your own coverage provides. When you ask about using insurance, identify your plan and the counseling format you are considering. Men’s individual care and couples work have different meeting options at this practice.
02
Ask What Your Plan Covers
Questions about counseling coverage should be about your own benefits rather than an assumption based on someone else’s experience. Coverage depends on the plan. The practice checks benefits together with you before your first session. This guide does not promise approval, payment, or a particular insurance decision, and does not replace the benefits discussion for your plan.

Understand the Counseling You Are Considering
Josh Reed holds an Ohio LPCC-S license with supervision designation. His counseling integrates a biblical worldview with CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic methods. Thoughts and responses, painful memories, and recurring emotional patterns can be part of clinical work. Insurance questions can be considered alongside what brought you to seek licensed counseling that takes Christian beliefs seriously.

Include the Session Format in Your Questions
Men’s sessions last 55 minutes, in person in Dayton or by secure video while located in Ohio. Couples and marriage sessions are also 55 minutes but in person only in Dayton. Appointments are weekly or every other week. Your first session includes concerns, goals, and faith fit, with practical tools between ongoing appointments and no promised outcome.

Private Pay and Superbills Are Also Available
You can ask about private pay during the free 15-minute consultation without needing to find a published fee. Superbills are available on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement, which is not guaranteed. Ask your plan about that possibility rather than treating a superbill as an assurance of payment. The Insurance and Payment page describes these practice options and the cancellation policy.
