How Shame Keeps Men Stuck
Freedom in Christ Counseling
Shame can be part of the concern a man brings when he feels stuck in self-criticism, comparison, or hidden pornography use. You can talk about the behavior you are responsible for without treating it as the whole account of your worth. Josh works on guilt, shame, and identity in Christ alongside practical emotional and behavioral concerns.
01
Separate the Concern From a Global Verdict
An inner criticism such as believing you always fail can be brought into counseling as a thought to examine. Name the actual concern too: an argument, compulsive use, or feeling disconnected. The work can consider responsibility for a choice while discussing the shame attached to it, rather than leaving the entire conversation at a judgment about your character.
02
Notice Where Performance Enters the Conversation
Men may feel they are maintaining a role at home, work, or church while avoiding honest discussion of their struggles. Josh’s identity and spiritual growth work includes biblical manhood and faith in everyday life. You can describe the difference between the man you present and the concern you are hesitant to bring into conversation.
03
Clinical Methods and Identity in Christ
Licensed in Ohio with supervision designation, Josh uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling within a biblical worldview. CBT can examine self-critical thoughts and responses; painful memories and recurring emotional patterns may also be considered. Clinical credibility and Christian beliefs belong together. Accountability, grace, and responsibility remain connected to concrete concerns rather than another demand to perform well.
