Faith and Mental Health: Can a Christian Be Depressed
Freedom in Christ Counseling
A Christian can bring low mood, numbness, low energy, or lack of purpose into counseling without putting faith aside. Josh’s depression work takes Christian beliefs seriously while providing clinical care. Faith questions belong in the discussion; this guide does not diagnose depression or turn an emotional concern into a verdict about whether your faith is sufficient.
01
Describe the Emotional Concern Directly
If you feel low or have lost interest in things that matter to you, begin there. You do not have to explain the experience only in spiritual terms. Josh works with men on depression and purpose, so the conversation can address the emotional concern itself as well as questions about how you understand it within your Christian beliefs.
02
Guilt and Identity Can Enter the Work
You may want to discuss shame about struggling or uncertainty about your worth. Josh’s work includes guilt, shame, and identity in Christ. Bringing those concerns into clinical counseling does not require an immediate spiritual answer. Scripture and prayer can be included as you want, with attention to personal responsibility and grace rather than another demand to appear well.
03
Clinical Counseling Has a Defined Place
Licensed in Ohio with supervision designation, Josh uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling within a biblical worldview. These methods consider thoughts and responses, painful memories, and recurring emotional patterns. Counseling is not a sermon, a substitute for medical care, or a source of medication advice. His practice makes room for clinical concerns and Christian faith in the same conversation.
