Accountability That Actually Helps
Freedom in Christ Counseling
Accountability in Josh’s work includes honest discussion of behavior without using shame as the method of care. If you are concerned about compulsive pornography use, gambling, or another repeated pattern, you can name the choices and secrecy involved. Counseling can examine what keeps the habit running while keeping responsibility and a biblical worldview in the conversation.
01
Be Specific About the Pattern
A broad intention to stop can leave important details unspoken. You can describe temptation, relapse cycles, hiding behavior, or the situations connected to the pattern you want to address. Josh works on addictive and compulsive behaviors, including gambling. The starting point is a concern to examine clinically, not a pledge that you will never struggle again.
02
Honesty Includes the Impact on Trust
If hidden pornography use has affected your marriage, that relationship concern belongs in the discussion too. Individual sexual integrity work and couples betrayal counseling are related but distinct. Couples meet in person in Dayton. Betrayal work includes accountability and forgiveness as a process, with attention to both partners’ concerns and no promise that every marriage will be restored.
03
Clinical Methods With Responsibility and Grace
Josh is an Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with supervision designation. He uses CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic counseling within a biblical worldview. Thoughts and responses, painful memories, and recurring emotional patterns can be considered alongside guilt, shame, and identity in Christ. Practical tools keep the conversation connected to behavior rather than treating a shame-filled self-description as accountability.
How Josh Works04
Know the Scope of Counseling
Individual Christian men age 18 and up can meet in Dayton or by secure video while located in Ohio. Sessions last 55 minutes, weekly or every other week, with practical tools between meetings. Counseling does not provide medical withdrawal care or detox services. If you need medical care for substance withdrawal, contact a physician rather than relying on a counseling appointment.
